HOW-TO: Get a Wwise license

Follow these steps to receive a Wwise license.

Wwise is Audiokinetic's software for interactive media and video games. It features an audio authoring tool and a cross-platform sound engine. Wwise is available for free to non-commercial users and under license for commercial video game developers.

How to get a Wwise license:

1. Create an account on the https://www.audiokinetic.com/en/ website.

2. In your Account menu (your name or a head icon if the window is narrow enough), click on 'Register my Project'

3. Then make sure that Gaming is selected. Now choose Non-Commercial and More than 200 Sounds. Click Proceed.

4. Name your project Witcher 3 Mod - <Your Mod Name>.  This way, Audiokinetic will easily identify it as a Witcher 3 mod.

5. If you have never registered a project with Audiokinetic before, you'll need to provide company info.  This means only putting in your name and home address. Audiokinetic will then mark you as an Individual User so that on the next mod you submit, you will be able to bypass that page by selecting Individual User from a dropdown menu on an earlier page.

6. You should provide dates showing roughly when you think you will complete making the mod, so that Audiokinetic can provide a key to cover your needs.

If you followed these steps, your projects will be approved by Audiokinetic.

Key expiration

Make sure to visit the project page from time to time to see when your key is coming up on expiration.

In that case you can use the Contact your Audiokinetic Representative button to ask for an extension. If you miss the expiration date for the key, Audiokinetic will not contact you about it and your license for that project will expire.
