Learn how to

edit the terrain and

add water areas to your terrain.

Adding water can be done by using Local Water Areas - areas are treated as boundaries of the water shape that is applied usually inside river or lake beds, where the terrain goes under a specified elevation level.First add


  1. Add a

layer (
  1. new layer- right click in the Scene Panel and choose 2024-05-14_13-58.pngImage Added. We can call it e.g. local_water_shape

Then edit that layer with the
  1. Select the new layer.

  2. Go to Tools and Terrain Edit Tools (Shape BrushFlatten).

  3. With the tool active, go to the Editor main screen and experiment with “flattening” the ground (basically, making a hole in the ground).

  4. Now right

click,
  1. on the area you have just flattened and choose Graphics → Add Local Water Areas.

  2. Use the Scale and Move button on the left the change the size of your water area and bring it in view.

When you open up the World settings tab at the right side of the editor, you can search for a setting called 'disableWaterShaders'.

This setting should be switched off to make the water defined by local water areas visible.

Also please make sure that when you open up the environment Editor, leave the 'Allow water shader' option checked:
