TOOL: Attitude Editor
Attitude editor allows you to change definitions of groups and their attitudes towards each other.
It is especially useful when we want to create an entire groups of NPCs, that are a constant, living part of our world - not just creatures which appear there once. You can edit the behaviour that certain groups have towards each other by selecting one of them and editing the other groups' attitude.
A group can be both:
a specific NPC (like Vesemir)
a type of creature (like all wild horses).
The tool can also be used to test out how different entities are acting when their attitudes are edited (even during gameplay).
Yennefer hates Cave Trolls
Let’s make Yennefer hostile towards all Cave Trolls.
Find the group “yennefer”.
These are some of her base attitudes towards different types of creatures. As you can see, she’s mostly “friendly”.
Now be changing her attitude towards cave_trolls you will make her hate them with a burning passion.
Done.
Please note that because this altered attitude would be an exception from the majority of other creatures' towards Cave Trolls, the Attitude Editor marks it as custom. Unchecking it would make the attitude reset to the default value (which was to be friendly).
Parent groups
Certain groups have parent groups. For example: the player’s parent group is humans, and a troll’s parent group are monsters.
Parent groups make your job easier. When you create a new monster, you don’t have to edit the attitude towards all other groups - you can just make it a child group of monsters and it will inherit their attitudes.
Shared attitude
For most cases the attitude between groups works both ways. You only need to define a player attitude towards Harpies without the need to define the attitude the other way round (Harpies → player) as it will be the same.
